Hello friends! I’ve been traveling a lot lately, and so my blog has been neglected. Going to try to rectify that with this cool spooky tag I found on The Calico Books! I love Halloween for so many reasons, not the least of which is reading scary books. So, let’s get into it!

1.) FAVORITE SCARY (MUST READ) FOR HALLOWEEN?

My favorite scary book is The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell. It’s a gothic horror, and it truly gave me nightmares. If you enjoyed Crimson Peak or the new Netflix series Haunting of Hill House, you might enjoy this one. Lots of creepy dolls!

2.) SCARIEST BOOK COVER, LIKE EVER?

Oh goodness, the first cover I thought of was this paperback cover of IT:

My boyfriend was reading this edition and I hated seeing it around the house. Great book though…except for that one scene. -_-

3.) IF YOU COULD GO TRICK-OR-TREATING WITH ANY AUTHOR, WHO WOULD YOU PICK?

This is a toss-up between VE Schwab and Leigh Bardugo. They both embrace the spooky aesthetic so much. If I had to choose I would go for Bardugo. She is a witch queen and hopefully, I could borrow some of her jewelry.

4.) IF YOU COULD DRESS UP AS ANY BOOKISH CHARACTER FOR HALLOWEEN, WHO WOULD YOU BE?

I would want to dress up as Genya Safin from the Grishaverse. Eye-patch, awesome kefta. I would be warm and gorgeous. Sounds like a perfect Halloween costume.

5.) IF YOU COULD FIND ANYTHING (FROM ANY BOOK) IN YOUR TRICK-OR-TREAT STASH, WHAT WOULD YOU HOPE TO FIND?

Going to assume this means an edible item. I’ll be a bit lame and go with Lembas bread from Lord of the Rings. I know it’s not a sweet, but I love me some bread.

6.) IN WHAT FICTIONAL WORLD WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TRICK-OR-TREATING?

I think it could be fun to go trick or treating on Fennbirn Island. As long as it was during the downtime between queen selections. I would love to trick-or-treat with all the naturalists.

7.) WHAT BOOK VILLAIN WOULD YOU NOT LIKE TO MEET ALONE IN A DARK ALLEY ON HALLOWEEN?

I can think of a few I would like to meet! Probably Levana from The Lunar Chronicles though. She straight up scares me.

8.) WOULD YOU RATHER DRESS UP AS A VAMPIRE, ZOMBIE, WEREWOLF, OR SHADOWHUNTER?

Well, Shadowhunter is right out. I don’t read those books and I don’t really have any interest in reading them. I have dressed as a Vampire a few times. I think it would be most challenging to dress as a werewolf, so I’ll go with that.

9.) PICK A CANDY (JUST ONE) FROM HARRY POTTER THAT YOU WOULD LOVE TO FIND IN YOUR STASH?

I’ve always wanted a sugar quill! I love the idea of being able to enjoy it while writing.

10.) WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HALLOWEEN CANDY?

I love peanut butter cups and red/pink starbursts.
