Book Tag: Books I want to read…but also don’t want to

I don’t have a review for today, so I went hunting for a book tag and found this one on Caidyn’s blog! It’s all about books I would like to read…in theory but don’t really want to take the time for. I have a lot like this on my shelf that I need to unhaul so maybe this tag will inspire me to do so!

A BOOK THAT YOU FEEL YOU NEED TO READ BECAUSE EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT IT

I have read a fair few books that everyone seems to talk about online, so this was kind of a tough one for me! The first thing that came to mind is Colleen Hoover though. I have no desire to read any of her books, but I know a lot of people who enjoyed them! Contemporary in general isn’t for me, so even though I’ve been told to try Hoover’s work I don’t think I ever will.

A BOOK THAT’S REALLY LONG

I do read a lot of very long books, so again this one is a bit challenging for me! I would have to go with something like War and Peace, or Anna Kerenina. I have a ton of book friends who love Jane Eyre as well and a part of me feels like I should experience these classic works, but I probably won’t!

A BOOK YOU’VE OWNED/HAD ON YOUR TBR FOR TOO LONG

Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb. Did you know that’s not her real name? It’s a pseudonym, I had no idea. I recently decided to unhaul my copies, though I still have the ebook. I may read it someday, but after seeing her talk at ECCC I have less desire to read her work.

A BOOK THAT IS ‘REQUIRED’ READING (EG, SCHOOL TEXT, REALLY POPULAR CLASSIC – SOMETHING YOU FEEL OBLIGATED TO READ!)

Wuthering Heights is one that I do genuinely want to read…someday, but who know when it will happen. It’s something I think I will enjoy, but a few close friends who had to read it for school did not like it. Someday!

A BOOK THAT INTIMIDATES YOU

Temeraire by Naomi Novik. It’s not even that long, but I’m so intimidated by the length of the series. Long series can be tricky, so as much as I want to read it and I think I will like it, I’m worried about the series being too much to take on.

A BOOK THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE SLOW

I definitely agree with Caidyn on Les Miserables but I will think of another! Insomnia by Stephen King is another book I recently unhauled. I don’t think it will be worth the minor references to IT I’ve heard it contains so I decided not to read it.

A BOOK YOU NEED TO BE IN THE RIGHT MOOD FOR

Most contemporary books I have to be in the right mood for, but I keep putting off Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier for the same reason. It’s another one I think I will enjoy, but I just keep reaching for other books first! Maybe in the fall, who knows!

A BOOK YOU’RE UNSURE IF YOU WILL LIKE

Since I’m looking straight at it on my shelf, I’ll go with Furyborn by Claire Legrand. I have a love/hate relationship with court-centric YA fantasy so I always worry about starting a new series. Plus, this book deals with time travel which can be a tricky thing. I will read it eventually, but I might wait for the series to be completed.

Please join in the tag if you’ve read this far! Be sure to link back to my post so I can see your answers! Should I bump any of these titles up on my TBR? Let me know in the comments!
