Friday Favorite: Fantasy Worlds!

Happy Friday bibliophiles! Kibby started this tag at Something of the Book. It’s a fun way to celebrate the books you love on one of the best days of the week!

So yes I am absolutely catching the very tail end of Friday, but I have been sick and I had a book to finish! In any case I’ve been thinking about my favorite fantasy world for the past few hours and it was a hard choice! My go-to is typically Red London from VE Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic series. I wanted to go with something different this time though! Having just finished a very witchy read, I’m feeling the dark fantasy vibes right now. I cannot wait for this world’s story to wrap up later this year, so I have to give this post to…

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

The wonderfully weird and witchy world Kendare Blake created in this series is one of my all time favorites. I love the strong family bonds explored in these books. I also can’t get over the sheer variety of powers, and the creative ways each character wields their goddess given abilities.

The Island of Fennbirn itself is one of the most interesting characters in the series. After surviving through several generations of dark queens, the island has a turbulent history unlike any other. Fennbirn seems to have powers unique unto itself, and I’m hoping we get to learn more about them in the final book in the series. The stipulations placed on the queens seem so outlandish at times, I would love to know more about the origins of the ascension.

Let me know if you love this series too! I’m planning to do a lot of reading this week, so be sure to keep an eye on my instagram for reading updates!
