Tomorrow!!! It’s out tomorrow! It’s not an April Fools joke, it’s not months away anymore, it’s finally here! In the lead up to this book, I have read it twice, reviewed it, shared posts, photos, and tweets all because I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! I struggled with some YA fantasy recently, and this book made me realize how wrong it would be to give up on the genre. Question #1: If you could have 1 of Nadya’s gods at your beck and call, who would you choose?

As potentially controlling as Marzenya can be, I find her utterly fascinating. She also has the nice perk of being the goddess of all magic, so, that’s nice. I’m not sure if that’s totally worth the extremes she requires, which is part of the fascination. She gives so much but she asks for so much in return.

Question #2: The Vultures keep me up at night, they are absolutely terrifying. Did their design stem from something that kept you up at night?

I just like designing monsters 🙂 There is a lot of vampire folklore in Poland — it’s everywhere. And when I was designing the Vultures it stemmed from the question of how could you make vampires worse in a world where magic can be fueled by blood? Also I just like DRAMA and they’re very dramatic. 

Question #3: Religion plays a huge role in this book, what drove you to put religion, and religious doubt specifically, at the forefront of Wicked Saints?

I’m fascinated by how religion can be used in fantasy, and I have my own particularly complicated feelings on religion and it all kind of collided in this book. Gods and the concepts thereof are no strangers to YA fantasy, but I wanted to dig into theology and fanaticism and the grittier things that come alongside religion. 

To sum up, this book is one I love dearly and I am so excited for it to be out in the world! It was such an honor to be included on the Blog Tour team, and Wednesday Books just continues to put out one amazing book after another.
